What’s new in sustainable finance?
On May 6th, the Climate Policy Initiative published a report on Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy: Inputs for Classifying Land Use Activities. The reports highlights the importance of developing a comprehensive, technically sound Brazilian Sustainable Taxonomy for driving investments aligned with environmental sustainability. They provide recommendations focusing on clear criteria establishment, compatibility with international standards, creation of monitoring mechanisms, and gradual, coordinated implementation involving various stakeholders.

On the 30th of April, the European Commission received final recommendations from the High-Level Experts Group (HLEG) to scale up sustainable finance in low- and middle-income countries, addressing unprecedented capital outflows since 2022. Recommendations focus on strategic engagement, flexibility in leveraging EU financial instruments, and innovative approaches to attract private capital, aligned with the Global Gateway investment strategy.
