France backs a project of levy on the shipping industry ahead of an international meeting in July to finance a part of the global transition. Highly dependent on fossil fuels, the shipping industry could become a major contributor to fighting climate change.
EU countries are meant to meet on June 20 in Luxembourg to agree on EU Nature Restauration Law. Even if opposition remains, the project includes “binding targets to restore Europe’s nature and reverse biodiversity loss in agriculture, forests, oceans, and urban areas”.
